The Fish Wrap Writer Recommendations
We at the Fish Wrap Writer are asked often about what tackle shops to visit, what gear we use to catch fish, what stripers are biting on in the fall, etc. We do our best to provide tackle shop and lure info in our fishing reports we post weekly, but we also wanted to provide a comprehensive list here as well.
Additionally, there are some amazing organizations in Rhode Island that help protect our waterways and fishing environments. Check out some of my favorites below.
Store Recommendations
These are the places I shop in New England when needing bait, lures, rods/reels, swag or more often than not, some great local fishing and hunting advice. To see a complete list of tackle shops in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, click here.
There are dozens of excellent tackle shops all over Rhode Island, staffed with great folks who are ready to help you with picking out your gear needed to catch the fish. Check out this blog post that lists them all. See one I’m missing? Send us an email and let us know!

Testing Titan’s Pro55Q Cooler
Titan Pro's 55Q cooler may be one of your best longlife gear purchases. It proved to be tough, very well designed in every way and performed with a common sense approach to adventure food and drink storage. The designers did not miss a thing. This gets the very first Fish Wrap Seal of Approval.
