2026 Narragansett Surfcasters Surf Day Means More, More, More…
The Narragansett Surfcasters are hosting their annual Surf Day New and Used Tackle sale on January 10, 2026. There will be more vendors, more tables, more space, hopefully more clam chowder, more gear, rods and reels and just plain more. Because there will be so much more, Surf Day has been moved to the West Warwick Civic Center on Factory Street. Surf Day has grown to be one of the most anticipated fishing events of the year.
Top Ten reasons to go to Surf Day, in no particular order:
- You are supporting a charitable band of anglers who spend as much time on the water as they do helping people who need a hand.
- They have the whole gamut of fishing supplies, from wants to must-have’s.
- Northeners will love not having to make a days long trek all the way to Narragansett.
- Marvellous Marty Wenchyk will have his amazing collection of vintage lures on display.
- 75 tables will be stocked with everything you might need to fish for pretty much anything.
- Mr. Posiedon will be there. He’s worth the price of admission for sure.
- The most in demand rod and plug builders will display in force
- You might just see Rosie of Rosie’s Rod and Fly there. She’s a star.
- It’s the right time to see friends before winter squalls keep up huddled up ’til spring.
- Nothing beats a few hours with friends, especially on a cold winter day with no fish on the beach.
- Because Robert Hunter wrote, “Too much of everything is just enough…”
The Narragansett Surfcasters is a solid fishing club but more events like this prove how much more they are than a bunch of people talking about fishing. One past Surf Day visitor wrote, “The Surfcasters are a fishing club in the purest sense; it’s safe to say everything they do is a success. Throughout the long summer, they unofficially hold court at Monahan’s Pier as the day cools to night and the beach heats up with possibilities then close the fishing season with generous donations to local charities. They are a fishing group wisely without the politics which often bleed into clubs; these guys just love to go fishing and help people.”
Member Bob Baker, who quickly became a club guide at my first meeting, told me, “The board takes giving back to the community very seriously”
Surf Day Is THE Day
Please don’t miss this year’s Surf Day with the Narragansett Surfcasters. Everyone who passes through, looks over the tables, shakes a new hand, gets to meet President Bruce Bain or says no to oyster crackers because the chowder is just that fine, will leave with a bag of hopes for a new fishing season and feel empowered from learning more about our passion to fish and how the Surfcasters help other people who might not get to spend time in the surf. That’s more than you might expect from a few dollars at the door. See you there.
