Tiogue Lake added to trout stocking program
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has announced that Lake Tiogue in Coventry will be stocked for Opening Day of trout season as a result of improved water levels in the lake. Bring on the rain! Dexter Pond in Scituate will be stocked and open to anglers of all ages as per regulation; however, the Town of Scituate will not hold a kids derby at Dexter Pond this year. Who’s Trapping Coyotes on Aquidneck Island?
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Division of Law Enforcement (DLE) is seeking information about two recent incidents on Aquidneck Island of coyotes with illegal leg-hold traps. Anyone with information on who set these traps is asked to contact DLE at 401-222-3070.
How to get this year’s Conservation Stamp
If you intend to keep your catch this Opening Day or another day this season, don't forget to purchase your trout conservation stamp. They will be available when you buy your fishing or hunting/fishing combo. You can get a fishing license on-line but not the stamp. It costs just $5.50 and Environmental Police Officers will be looking for them if you've got a mess hanging from your skiff. And don't forget those Personal Flotation Devices... Happy Opening Day!
