RITU’s Annual Fundraiser Banquet is not to be missed by anyone who appreciates cold water conservation, a fine dinner and cool gear auctions both live and silent. With George Daniel at the podium after dinner, you will stock up on gear and advise on how to cast and fish more effectively. This is a wonderful afternoon that supports Trout Unlimited in Rhode Island.
The annual Trees for Trout collection saved 400 trees from landfills, affording them new lives in a much-loved Wood River next summer. Trout Unlimited and RIDEM joined forces again to save then reestablish Christmas trees to create revetments which will provide shade and shelter to fresh water fishes, like trout. Trout Unlimited beats with a heart of volunteerism and this year was another strong success.
New Year’s Cleanup Time means January is for donating your Christmas tree to Trout Unlimited and shopping with the Surfcasters at Surf Day. You can drop off your tree to help support the Wood River then the following week, shop for new and used fishing gear at the much-anticipated Surf Day. All the details are here.
RI’s Trout Unlimited chapter has announced a grant to restore connectivity to Arcadia’s Breakheart Pond as a legacy conservation project. Brook trout, turtles, eels have been denied safe passage for more than 90 years to cool waters and thermal refuge. This is a banner day for conservation and a clear example of Trout Unlimited’s mission to protect and preserve cold water fishes. Read the details right here.
