Yes indeed, we are declaring Friday, October 14, 2022 as Fish Wrap Fishing Friday. It’s time to lace up, wader up, get up and get outside before the winds of change have us shoveling and hiding. Let’s fish, shoot and watch a film on a fine Fall Friday. It’s all here, in Fish Wrap this week.
There are few more exciting and frustrating late summer and early fall adventure than fishing for false albacore. Anglers wait all year, some plan vacations around their return, which can never be assured or guaranteed. They need clear water, calm seas and acres of bait; you need patience and to be all in for albies.
Deep in the brush, enveloped in protective poison ivy, slowing water, amassing mud, encouraging alders to set roots in a stream, a tired wall has prohibited trout passage for nearly one hundred years. Then, Trout Unlimited, RIDEM and Protect RI Brook Trout grabbed loppers and sledgehammers and tore that wall down. The improvement was immediate and frankly, really wonderful.
This week we meet John King and his wife Kathy who own Glasswater Angling Lead-Free Lures to help us all catch more fish in fresh and saltwater without poisoning the very waters we love. It’s a great company and an even greater story. Lead-free is the way to be.
